Match organiser Mike Jones short-poled a variety of baits at dead depth off disabled peg 11 and claimed the runner-up spot with a creditable 8-12-0 of skimmers and roach.

Third was Bob “The Bread” Price who poled his favourite bait up to 5 metres centre off peg 30 for a 7-4-0 catch of skimmers and roach .

Angler's Mail

Best Club Award

Congratulations to the Bathampton Angling Association for winning the Angler's Mail Best Club of 2011 award.

A spokesman on behalf of the BAA committee said: "We are very pleased to accept the award on behalf of all the hard working volunteers who run the club."

The Bathampton AA not only cater for able bodied match, pleasure and carp anglers but are justifiably proud of the huge band of experienced and skilled volunteers who look after its disabled, junior and veteran members.

The club's Hunstrete complex epitomises well run still waters while keeping its rivers and canal roots alive by successfully running the sections of the Bristol Avon and Kennet and Avon Canal that are under its control.
